She was <span class=\"highlight\">born<\/span> into a middle-class family, which shaped her early life and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Education<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khaleda Zia completed her secondary <span class=\"highlight\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d.pr\/i\/n3e6Dw\">education<\/a><\/span> in 1960. She attended <a href=\"https:\/\/emc.edu.bd\/\">Eden College<\/a> in Dhaka, where she obtained her higher secondary certificate. Khaleda later studied at the University of Dhaka, although she did not complete a university degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Marriage<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1960, Khaleda Zia married Ziaur Rahman, who later became a prominent political figure and the President of Bangladesh. Together, they had two sons, Tarique and Arafat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Independent War<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, Khaleda Zia played a crucial role by providing support and shelter to the freedom fighters. She and her family faced hardships, relocating multiple times during the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Death<\/span> of Ziaur Rahman<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khaleda&#8217;s husband, Ziaur Rahman, was assassinated on May 30, 1981. His <span class=\"highlight\">death<\/span> profoundly impacted Khaleda and propelled her into political life, where she took on a role that would define her future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Prime Minister<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bagom Khaleda Zia became the first female <span class=\"highlight\">Prime Minister<\/span> of Bangladesh, serving two non-consecutive terms from 1991 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2006. Her leadership was characterized by efforts to develop the country and address social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Prisoner Life<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2007, following political turmoil, Khaleda was imprisoned on corruption charges. She was released in 2008 amid political changes and public outcry for her release. Her time as a prisoner was marked by significant media attention and public support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\"><span class=\"highlight\">Death<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of October 2023, Bagom Khaleda Zia is alive. Her health has been a subject of concern in recent years, and she continues to be an influential figure in Bangladeshi politics.
