How do committees work? #

OVFC’s committees are appointed by the President. Each committee has a Chair, appointed by the President, who is responsible for managing the committee and reporting its activities to the Board and membership.

Committee Chairs earn 15 LOSAP points for a full year of service (or 1.25 per month for less than one year). Committee members earn 10 LOSAP points for a full year of service (or 0.8 per month).

Below are the committees, Chairs, and confirmed members for 2025.

The OVFC Bylaws require that any committee that involves spending or receiving Company funds has at least one Board member on the committee. These committees are marked with a ($) in the list below. These committees must also submit an annual budget outlining their expected income and expenditures for the coming fiscal year.

Awards #

Identifies available appropriate awards from County, State, and National organizations for which OVFC members may qualify. Makes award recommendations to the President and Chief and prepares nominations as directed.

Carnival ($) #

Is responsible for general oversight of the OVFC’s annual carnival. Responsibilities include selecting dates and securing vendors for the carnival, marketing the event, procuring food, supplies, materials and permits; and coordinate with the Ladies Auxiliary as needed. Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for New ideas, changes, or modifications, and coordinates with the Treasurer to obtain required start up monies and ensure that all funds received are turned over to the Financial Secretary for deposit in a timely manner.

Community Outreach ($) #

Working with both the President and Chief, coordinates the annual Odenton Day open house, conducts community engagement to educate and reduce community risk, coordinates and oversees station tours and birthday parties, and coordinates with the Red Cross and/or AAMC to host at least two blood drives annually.
